Tattoo Golf Tour Blows through Bailey Golf Ranch

Owasso OK -  Conditions were tough during the second stop of the Tattoo Golf Amateur Tour held this past Sunday at Bailey Golf Ranch with steady (and strong) wind gusts starting early and lasting throughout the day.  Despite gusts up to 30mpg, all 44 participants enjoyed a great day of golf and festivities with trophies and prizes spread across four flights of players.   As usual, Chad did a killer job putting on this event and really going the extra mile to make sure all of the players had a great experience throughout the day.  From awesome trophies to individual players' names on the driving range, no detail is too small and Chad handled it all expertly!

The First Tattoo Golf Amateur Tour Event is in the Books

What a great day it turned out to be at Coffee Creek Golf Course out in Edmond OK!  With the forecast calling for temps in the 40's, it looked as if the kickoff event to the Tattoo Golf Amateur Tour was destined to be a chilly one but mother nature was kind to us and it was shorts and short sleeve weather the entire day.  Our man on the ground and event coordinator extraordinaire is Chad Morrison and Chad outdid himself with pulling off a first-class event that made all our amateurs feel like they were playing in a PGA event!   Chad had banners and signs, Tattoo Golf girls, custom pre-printed score cards, and even individual player names at designated stations on the driving range!

Winners by flight were:
Alpha -  Kyle Hudelson - 69
Bravo -  Randy Collier - 77
Charlie -  Steve Blackburn - 79
Delta -  Scott Word - 83
Echo -  Johnny Ragsdale - 92

The next event is being held April 14th at Bailey Golf Ranch in Owasso, OK.   Remember, to enter the event you must be a member of the Tattoo Golf Amateur Tour and that will cost you $100 BUT this membership fee includes a Performance Tattoo Golf shirt as well as a Tattoo Golf hat - $80 worth of Tattoo Golf gear so not a bad deal at all!!  To view the entire Tattoo Golf Clothing collection, visit www.tattoogolf.com

Vegas - Tattoo Golf Style

I recently took a 4 hour road trip from L.A. out to Vegas to meet up with my cousin and his girl friend for a weekend of drinking and gambling but unfortunately, no golfing.   My cousin is very enthusiastic about both drinking and gambling but golf, not so much.

We began the morning with Bloody Mary's at a bar in the Four Queens and I was hitting hands left and right with the biggest hit being this one below!  5 of a kind for 1,000 coins (quarters).  Oh if I'd only just sat here the whole day but I ultimately moved on to distribute my winnings at the Blackjack and craps tables.

I ran into these two outside on Fremont Street.  I thought they liked me for my Tattoo Golf clothes but apparently they just wanted a tip.  Great fun though.

Next time we'll load up the clubs in the Tattoo Golf van and hit a few courses out there as there is now a ton of great tracks to play beginning right at the CA/NV border with Primm Valley.

Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde - Golfing Style

Has this happened to you?  Your tournament is coming up so you head out for a practice round and really play well, striking the ball solidly and scoring under your handicap, all the while thinking "if i just play like this during the tournament......"   Then comes tournament day and a completely different golfer shows up!  Shots are topped, trees are hit, bunkers (on different fairways) are landed in, etc.,etc.

The guys here at Tattoo Golf play in many tournaments throughout the year and last weekend I participated in a tournament at a club here in the L.A. area.  Now the weekend before I played the same course and shot an 83, very good for me, and everything seemed effortless.  I got off the tee in good shape, irons to the greens were fairly accurate and the chipping and putting were both working just fine.  Naturally I'm thinking "if i just play like this ....."

And then the tournament happened and Mr. Hyde was out in full force!   The golfer who shot 83 with ease was nowhere to be found but was inexplicably replaced with a hacking newbie who stumbled on to shoot 100.  What seemed so easy the week before was now hard work, tee shots were slicing or being pulled down the 3rd base line into trees, irons sucked, and chips were shanked.   The putter worked but that was the only bright spot on an otherwise ugly day.

The bad news is that I know I am the epitome of inconsistency but the good news is that my next great round is just around the corner!
