Vegas - Tattoo Golf Style

I recently took a 4 hour road trip from L.A. out to Vegas to meet up with my cousin and his girl friend for a weekend of drinking and gambling but unfortunately, no golfing.   My cousin is very enthusiastic about both drinking and gambling but golf, not so much.

We began the morning with Bloody Mary's at a bar in the Four Queens and I was hitting hands left and right with the biggest hit being this one below!  5 of a kind for 1,000 coins (quarters).  Oh if I'd only just sat here the whole day but I ultimately moved on to distribute my winnings at the Blackjack and craps tables.

I ran into these two outside on Fremont Street.  I thought they liked me for my Tattoo Golf clothes but apparently they just wanted a tip.  Great fun though.

Next time we'll load up the clubs in the Tattoo Golf van and hit a few courses out there as there is now a ton of great tracks to play beginning right at the CA/NV border with Primm Valley.

Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde - Golfing Style

Has this happened to you?  Your tournament is coming up so you head out for a practice round and really play well, striking the ball solidly and scoring under your handicap, all the while thinking "if i just play like this during the tournament......"   Then comes tournament day and a completely different golfer shows up!  Shots are topped, trees are hit, bunkers (on different fairways) are landed in, etc.,etc.

The guys here at Tattoo Golf play in many tournaments throughout the year and last weekend I participated in a tournament at a club here in the L.A. area.  Now the weekend before I played the same course and shot an 83, very good for me, and everything seemed effortless.  I got off the tee in good shape, irons to the greens were fairly accurate and the chipping and putting were both working just fine.  Naturally I'm thinking "if i just play like this ....."

And then the tournament happened and Mr. Hyde was out in full force!   The golfer who shot 83 with ease was nowhere to be found but was inexplicably replaced with a hacking newbie who stumbled on to shoot 100.  What seemed so easy the week before was now hard work, tee shots were slicing or being pulled down the 3rd base line into trees, irons sucked, and chips were shanked.   The putter worked but that was the only bright spot on an otherwise ugly day.

The bad news is that I know I am the epitome of inconsistency but the good news is that my next great round is just around the corner!
