Golf Show Wrap Up

We wrapped up the So. Cal. Golf Show this past weekend and given the f***ed up situation of our economy these days, it was actually quite a successful show for us. The attendance was definitely down for the entire event but we had a steady crowd at the Tattoo Golf booth so we're thankful for that! Thanks to all our old friends who stopped by to say hello. A few shots below from the show.
Our buddy Rene who works at the shows but always sports Tattoo Golf Clothing from head to toe!!
Here's another Tattoo Golf customer who tattooed our logo on his arm - need to start collecting a royalty or something for these!!! I think this is the 7th or 8th person to get this tattoo

Tiger Woods Returns to Torry Pines

I'm not into caddies & would rather play my own game without having someone hover over me watching, secretly mocking each stroke but I would have gladly made an exception & trade places with 59 year old John Abel. Abel was the winner of the "Tee Off With Tiger" contest hosted by Buick during this past U.S. Open & he got the services of Caddie Tiger for the back 9 nine of the South Course! How sweet (and nerve shattering) would that be to have Tiger caddy for you?? I just can't help imagining if I'd won this contest (I did enter) & then show up fully decked out in Tattoo Golf gear, how fun would that be!? Now that would be a priceless photo.

Tiger drove the cart, handed Abel clubs & helped read putts while wearing a caddies bib with John Abel's name on it. If that alone wouldn't be nerve-racking enough, the entire round was captured on video & reporters & other media were allowed to watch the 10th & 18th hole action.

Tiger reminisced with Abel about his victory only 4 months ago and he said to reporters that he felt fine & was able to hit chip shots & hopes to start hitting longer clubs at the beginning of the year. Obviously he'd like to come back to defend at the Buick in early February but he said he's not sure if that's a realistic goal or not. He's won it 4 years in a row so I'm guessing he'll do whatever it takes to get ready.

Tournament Update

Well the Junior / Senior tourney didn't go as well as I was hoping it would - came in second to last! My partner was a 78 year old guy with a 24 handicap but seemed to be playing to a 44 & I wasn't much help so together we limped in with a net even par. With all the strokes we got between us, we couldn't get under par & believe me, it was a struggle just to maintain par.

But the bottom line is that it was a beautiful 80 degree day of golf in sunny So. Cal!! Can't beat that.

Tournament Life

The slacker blogger is back & going to try to keep current this time around! Last months tournament at my club was a disaster for me - I felt like the Dodgers must feel right now - so close & yet so far! It was the Club Championship & the event was broken into 4 flights. The A flight were playing scratch & the winner here would become the overall club champion. Unfortunately my game is nowhere near this level so I was in flight D! All flight winners received sweet trophies which I desperately wanted. I won my first 3 matches so on the last Sunday of the 2 weekend tournament I faced off against an old timer with a 36 handicap! All flights except A play net golf so I'm giving him 9 strokes. I played beautifully for the 1st 3 rounds & far below my handicap but in the final round I played like a jackass. Spraying balls all over the place while the old timer just keep punching it up the middle of the fairway. I was 5 down at one point but got it down to 2 w/ 2 to play. 17th hole & I'm on the green so just need a 2 putt to win the hole. While I'm normally a great putter, this one I blew by 15 feet (to my defense, it was a 50 footer). Missed the comebacker & lost it right then & there. I thought the Tattoo Golf attire would intimidate the old man but I guess not!! Oh well, it's probably the old timer's last major tourney & I've got another 40 years in me - I hope!

This Saturday is the Junior/Senior 1 day tourney so will report back next week. Got to

Tattoo Golf Clothing
By Apryl DeLancey
Originally posted on www.golfwrx.com

Based in Southern California, Tattoo Golf has golf apparel and accessories with a bit of an attitude. Inspired by tattoo designs and current fashion trends, founder Bill Anderson decided that it was time to do something besides the traditional golf attire one day after a round. Initially starting online from his Burbank home about seven years ago, the company is now carried in select pro shops around the country and has an online store. You can almost guarantee to see the Bill and partner Greg Shaw at a booth for the Southern California golf shows a few times a year as well. Oh yeah, and Bill’s about a ten handicapper and serious about his game.

The label is targeting “a young-minded golfer who is dissatisfied with the golf clothing that’s found out in the market today. They are looking for something fun, different, and a bit edgy to set themselves apart from the crowd. They probably don’t buy much, if any, golf apparel in pro shops or golf stores because it’s not their thing.” And no, you don’t need tattoos to wear the line. I’ve seen golfers with and without ink that wear their clothes. The demographic for the line is mainly men and women 25-45 that want something different in their golf attire.

Besides golf shirts they carry tees, sweatshirts, tanks, covers, balls, hats, and other accessories. There are styles for both men and women and they come out with new designs regularly. The men’s argyle design has been their most popular golf shirt so far. If you really like their look, you can pick up one of their golf value packs that come with a variety of products. They also carry Alias Golf Shoes on their site, which tout a “no break-in period”.

I recently tried their new “La Jolla” golf shirt for women in orange when I was playing in the desert. Even though it was about 105°F outside, the shirt never got sticky or felt cumbersome. After the round, I wasn’t wet and cold when walking into the heavily air conditioned buildings. Other than moisture wicking, the shirt has an antibacterial finish and can go right into the washing machine and dryer. My husband wore the men’s “Santa Cruz” and was equally comfortable. This design also features moisture-wicking fabric and is lightweight. We both have hats, tees, and divot tools from Tattoo Golf with their signature skull and crossclubs design as well. I’ve got their driver cover in black also, which fits up to a 460cc head and matches my bag quite nicely. This driver cover has the magnetic closure so the club slips in and out with ease.

Take a look at their website and sign up for the newsletter while you’re there and check out the “Shots in the Rough” section. Fans of Tattoo Golf send in pictures of themselves wearing the clothes and of their golf-themed tattoos. If you’re looking for an alternative to the norm, this is your clothing line.

Another Strong Finish for Harrington

Padraig Harrington wrapped up the '08 majors season with his 2nd come-from-behind victory in a row to win the PGA Championship by 2 strokes over Ben Curtis & Sergio "The Crumbler" Garcia.

Curtis was looking solid for a while, making key putts when needed but unfortunately for him things got a bit bumpy down the stretch & Garcia & Harrington were able to pull even & pass. Garcia came out firing with a birdie, eagle start on holes 1 & 2 to quickly get into contention. Harrington turned it on late with 4 birdies & just 1bogie for a 32 over the final 9 while Garcia went 2 over & Curtis 1 over on the final 9.

When asked if he was disappointed about coming so close once again in a Major, Garcia responded "Why are you making this a disappointment.....When you give it your best and the end result is not what you wish for, it's hard, but you feel good." Riiiight. Whatever he needs to say to feel better is fine but to say he's not disappointed is a crock!

But how about Harrington?! He's won 3 of the last 6 majors played & is only the 4th player to ever win both the British Open and the PGA in the same year, both very Tigerlike statistics.

Michelle Wie Really is Nuts

She says she's not but Michelle Wie is definitely a joke. She's an adult now so more than capable of making her own decisions and yes, she's made another bad one by agreeing to play in this weekends PGA tournament in Reno. Journeyman Jay Williamson asked if it was a joke when told of her plans to play in yet another men's event. Well it's not a joke Jay. Considering she's not even a threat to win in LPGA events, what on earth is there to gain from going against the men again? Before she turned 18 it could be argued that her over-protective parents were guiding her but can that still be the case? She won't make the cut, she'll more than likely be in dead last place as usual & she'll leave in tears once more.

Short Hitter Reavie is Long on Talent

Rookie Chez Reavie won the Canadian open by 3 shots over Billy Mayfair & pocketed a nice $900,000 check in the process. I have to be honest when saying I'd never heard of Reavie until this past weekend but I think we'll be hearing a lot from in over the next few years. The guy is not a long hitter but more than made up for it with his accuracy by hitting 54 of 72 fairways in regulation. His playing partner, Anthony Kim, never got in the groove and followed up his third round 64 with a 75 to end up tied for 8th. Reavie couldn't have looked cooler under what must have been tremendous pressure for a rookie looking for his first win. He hit some beautiful shots to hold his lead & never once looked anything but in total control. Perhaps more important than the awesome payday is the fact that he's now got his tour card locked up for the next 2 years and will be getting an invite to Augusta next spring.

An Interview with Greg Shaw from TattooGolf.com

Posted by Brian Weis from GolfConnection.com

In early spring of 2008, while researching new golf products for the year I stumbled onto Tattoo golf. Their apparel was pretty wild and I posted a blog submission on GolfConnection.com.

My quote was “My grandpa is rolling in his grave because gone are the days of izod golf shirts, argyle socks and pastel golf pants.”

This golf apparel company is shaking things up and bringing a little attitude and spunk to the game of golf. Let me paint the picture, Hell’s Angels just joined your foursome.

Initially, I got a good chuckle and thought the company had an interesting niche since I have seen my share of Harley shirt wearing golfers in my beer drinking golf leagues.

Ironically, shortly after posting the blog article about Tattoo Golf, I received an email from Greg Shaw, one of the partners of the company. He agreed to an interview as he wanted to share with the golfing world what his company was all about.

Interview Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: Greg, thanks for taking a moment to chat with me. Can you share with me a brief history of the company and how the idea got started?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: My partner, Bill Anderson, started the company about 7 years ago because he was fed up with the one-dimensional look of golf apparel and the fact that there was nothing in the market that could truly express his style & personality. He's a 10 handicapper who sports tattoos and would be considered a "non-traditional" golfer because of his looks & clothing.

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: And the logo?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: The skull & crossed clubs became the company's main design and upon seeing it, it leaves no question as to what the company is all about.

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: When did you join the company?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: I joined as a partner 2 years ago and in that time we've retooled the website, added tons of new products, started exhibiting at shows and we're now aggressively expanding our wholesale business.

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: Many of your products are unique, what type of golfers are you trying to target? And what has been the reaction to your products?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: I think our entire line is unique just for the fact that there is nothing else in the market like it. We have the whole aggressive look going with the skull & crossed clubs design but we also have top-quality merchandise so it's not just for looks, it's also extremely functional. Many of our polo shirts feature our Poly-dri fabric which is a very breathable material that wicks moisture away from the body & keeps you cool. All our headgear is from Flexfit who are tops the business.

Our core audience is both men and women between the ages of 20 and 45 who are looking for something different, fun, a bit edgy, and more importantly, something that sets them apart from everybody else.

We have a whole pack of hardcore, diehard fans and to give you an idea of what I mean by this, as of today we have 5, that we know of, customers who have actually tattooed our logo on their bodies!

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: Seriously???

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: I am not kidding? You can check out our Shots in the Rough page on our website to see them all.

(Side Note: I did verify it at www.tattoogolf.com/shots-in-the-rough-s/42.htm)

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: Now that is brand loyalty!

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: Yes! (Big chuckle) I seriously doubt that anybody's been passionate enough about Ashworth to get a tattoo of their logo!

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: Now I am offended, I have one tattooed on my shoulder?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: Really?

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: No! Obviously I am joking. (Pause for some laughs)

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: Well, we do sell temporary tattoos for those who love our brand and want to show off some extra attitude on the course. You can find them in our catalog section of our website at www.tattoogolf.com.

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: So what’s new for 2008? Anything coming down the pike you can share?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: So far in '08 we've introduced our Argyle design in a Poly-dri polo as well as t-shirts. We've also added driver covers, putter covers, golf balls and bags to our accessories line. We're currently working on a new design that will be featured on polos and hats and will be an alternative to our skull design. This will be out for summer of 2008.

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: I ordered a hat and shirt and must say I love the quality and the style of the grey argyle polo shirt! Where can our readers find your products?

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: Yes, that shirt is one of our popular ones.

Our catalog can be found online at www.tattoogolf.com. Please let your readers know that when they can come to our website to order, they should enter coupon code j3off10 to receive a 10% discount.

Brian Weis – GolfConnection.com: Greg, thanks for the offer and your time!

Greg Shaw – Tattoo Golf: Anytime, thanks Brian.

Golf Blog Slacker

If you're reading this - thank you!! A basic rule of a good golf blog (or any blog for that matter) is that you have to update it on a regular basis, something I have not done very well this year I'm afraid. Well I just gave myself a good kick in the ass and will solemly swear to do a better job.

We've been busy over here at Tattoo Golf and are very pleased to have shipped our first order to the Hard Rock Park in Mrytle Beach S. Carolina!

If you're a regular to the Tattoo Golf website then you've probably noticed that we've also been busy with releasing tons of new items over the past couple of months including golf balls (black & white), belt buckles, new t-shirt designs, golf bags and more. Check out these pix here to see a couple of the new items or just go to www.tattoogolf.com and check out everything there.

5 Questions with Tattoo Golf

5 Questions With Tattoo Golf!
By Apryl DeLancey Published Today Sports Rating: Unrated

Golf apparel does not have to be pretentious and stuffy - just ask the guys at Tattoo Golf! Appalled with the horrendous choices in golfing attire, founder Bill Anderson made a point to change that hideous fact forever. The company's roots began with Anderson selling the line from his Burbank home from a simple web page. Since then, they have been a fixture at events and on courses everywhere. Greg Shaw, who joined Tattoo Golf in May 2006 was gracious enough to answer 5 questions for me about my favorite golf apparel company, golf, and the state of its fashion:

1. How much resistance do you get from the bigger chain stores and the pretentious golfers? Has it been an uphill climb to get into the more conservative areas? For example, how much penetration do you have outside of Southern California?

The Tattoo Golf line is targeting a young-minded golfer who is dissatisfied with the golf clothing that's found out in the market today. They are looking for something fun, different, and a bit edgy to set themselves apart from the crowd. They probably don't buy much, if any, golf apparel in pro shops or golf stores because it's not their thing but we're working on changing that. One fact we're very proud of is that every retailer we've sold to has reordered! This tells me our product is selling but getting chain store buyers to understand this and carry our line is proving more difficult than we expected - but we're not giving up. I think when you deal with older buyers there's a perception that our line is strictly for the fringe element but it's not! You don't need tattoos to wear our line! We've obviously been concentrating our wholesale efforts to So. Cal. but we have a few accounts in other states and have a new Mid-West sales rep who is starting to do a great job for us.

2. Why do you think it is taking so long for golf to loosen up? What do you think it will take to make the sport more accessible? Is golf destined to forever be a "rich guy" or "country club" sport?

I actually think the sport is more accessible now than ever before which has brought a flood of new, younger golfers out onto courses throughout the U.S. Once the cost of clubs is out of the way, a round of golf at a muni course won't set you back all that much and outside of California, the prices really drop to play a round so our customer base is definitely growing.

3. Do you have any pros that you sponsor now? Have you tried? Is this also a challenge to be taken seriously by the golfing elite?

We don't have any touring pros wearing our gear now but we're working on it! We could outfit them with clothing but at this stage of our company’s life it wouldn't be possible to be a cash sponsor but one day..... As far as golfing's elite taking us seriously, we were approached by LPGA rookie Mollie Fankhauser who said she absolutely loves our line so we're working with her to get some hats & shirts out to her which hopefully she's wearing when she wins her first tournament.

4. Where does the company get inspiration for designs? Tattoo art? How many tattoos do you guys have? While we are on the subject, why does everyone look at tattooed golfers like we are going to rob them on the driving range?

Everybody loves skulls so the main design of the wicked looking skull with crossed clubs was a natural for us. We do look at tattoo art for inspiration and also follow current fashion trends to capitalize on the “what's hot” at the moment. Last year we started seeing argyle designs again so we jumped in with a Tattoo Golf version of the argyle pattern and it quickly became our best selling shirt. My partner Bill has the tattoos, I'm the virgin! As far as getting robbed on the driving range, I guess it's still surprising to see tattooed people playing golf or maybe they're wondering where they put their golf clubs on the chopper?

5. What do you believe has been the most defining moment in golf history in the last few decades? What do you think the next big thing will be?

I hate to say it but I think Tiger has changed the industry forever. He's increased viewership in PGA televised golf so much that tournament purses have exploded making every player in the top 150 a millionaire. He's brought an unimaginable number of new, young golfers to the game and he's also made the game so cool that everyone wants in on the action. I've always golfed but in the past decade I've know many friends who've picked it up because they feel like they're missing out on something! In high school it was considered nerdy to be on the golf team but those days are long gone. Tattoo Golf's the next big thing for sure!

Check out Tattoo Golf's web page here.

I Can't win the freakin 4 ball tournament...

This past weekend brought another 2nd place finish for my partner & I in our clubs annual 4 ball tournament. There was a new format which had 3 flights of 6 teams each playing 5 9-hole matches over the course of 2 days. Each match had to be played to the finish b/c each hole was worth 1 point & the winner of the match took another point so a total of 10 points up for grabs in each match.

The team w/ the most points after 5 matches wins & we came up one damn point short! Same partner, same 2nd place finish for the 3rd straight year although this year I felt better about things as I actually contributed quite a lot of points to our total where in past years I sucked!!

Tattoo Golf is thinking about putting on a tournament one of these days and if so, this could be quite a cool format to follow.

Well there's always next year for god's sake.

Tattoo Golf is well known for the hottest golf clothes in town - shirts, hats, t-shirts, hoodies, etc. but we've also got a fast-growing line of golf accessories to help style-out your look! Check out these best-selling golf accessories. See everything at www.tattoogolf.com:

Sunny and Hot!!

If you're a golfer, is there any place better to live than So. California? I played this week in shorts & a short sleeved golf shirt and was actually hot! It's been in the upper 70's to low 80's in the LA area & conditions just couldn't be any more perfect for a round of golf. There's no "golf season" in So. Cal. It's year-round golf at it's finest.

I'm in my club's annual 4-ball tournament this weekend & my partner & I have taken second place for the past 2 years so it's do or die time. Forecast is for mid-70's so should be nice!

Singh Melts at the AT T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

Steve Lowery, number 305 in the world rankings, topped Vijay in the 1st playoff hole to win the check and trophy Sunday to extend his win streak to 1 win per every 200 tournaments entered. Singh had the match halfway through the final round but uncharacteristically choked to give up the lead, needing a birdie at the last just to get himself into the playoff!

The birdie that got him in the playoff was a beauty though as he had to wait around while the amateur in the group bashed it up the fairway but he coolly knocked his short approach close and made the bird. That feeling didn't last long because 1 hole later Lowery was hoisting the cup and shaking hands with Mr. Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood.

Pebble Beach has got to be one of the most incredible golf scenes on the planet! The family stopped by there last year on our way home from a road trip up north and ate lunch out on the terrace overlooking the 18th green. It was not only the most expensive lunch I've ever eaten but also the most spectacular views imaginable!! Next time I'm there will be to play, not look... Maybe a Pebble Beach / Tattoo Golf tournament?

Tattoo Golf Shirts

Tattoo Golf will be exhibiting at the Southern California Golf show in Long Beach at the end of the month so if you're in the neighborhood, stop on by for some great deals on TG gear. The show begins on Feb. 29 and runs through Sunday the 2nd of March (yes, Feb. 29th - it's leap year).

We're going to have the entire Tattoo Golf line there including our polo golf shirts as shown below: The Trent, Dylan & Argyle designs are among our top selling items and you'll find special deals on these and other TG gear at the show. We'll highlight other items between now & the show to give everyone a chance to see what Tattoo Golf's all about.

Mammoth Ski Trip

Tattoo Golf headed up to Mammoth Mountain here in California for some skiing and Super Bowl watching this past weekend. What a game!! Quite a yawner through the first half but man what a 4th quarter. I still can't believe what I saw when Manning threw that game-saving, 3rd down pass to Tyree who miraculously caught the ball against his helmet & managed to hang on while crashing to the ground with defenseman Harrison's hands all over it!! Truly an amazing play & already being touted as one of the greatest in all Super Bowl history.

Tiger Wrecks Buick

One of the many reasons to watch sporting events is the suspense factor & the excitement of the uncertainty of which team or player will take the title in the end as the final seconds tick down. Unfortunately for todays PGA fans, tournaments involving Tiger are robbed of any such suspense! Tiger going into the weekend with an 8 stoke lead is just about as sure a bet as you can make & the outcome was clearly decided with 2 entire days to play. I said it was over on Friday & it was although that hardly make me a great seer of all things to come - it was just inevitable.

If he keeps up this level of game then it's game-over for everybody else this year.

Diet, Daly, Diet!!

John Daly missed the cut today by scoring a 76 which when added to his 77 yesterday gets him a tie for 145th & an early trip to the nearest Indian casino for some blackjack. I love this guy and really root for him every time out but enough's enough! Much has been written about his distaste for diet & exercise & it's been a long-running joke on tour with Daly having as much fun with it as anyone but he's got to do something soon before he either seriously hurts himself or runs out of sponsor exemptions - or both!

The only reason we're seeing him play this year is because of sponsor exemptions - he sells tickets. The problem is he's really starting to stink up the place with withdrawals, missed cuts & enough missed opportunities to fill a 36' Winnebago.

He needs to drop a few pounds, cut down (not out) on the booze, & practice golf - not blackjack. You don't skip practice rounds to hit the casino! He's getting older and fatter and his game is sucking. It won't be long before tournament sponsors start passing him over to use their exemptions on golfers who may actually be around for 4 days.

Finally, the official PGA websites need to re-weight Daly because if he's only 220 pounds then I'm the queen of England.

Hold that Tiger

Tiger looked in top form as he methodically dissected both the North & South courses at Torrey Pines over the past 2 days to give himself the tournament lead at 12 under 132. This also gives him a comfortable 4 stroke lead over Kevin Streelman, a last minute alternate, who sits at 8 under.

Tiger hasn't played competitively since he smoked the field in his own tournament at Sherwood over 5 weeks ago but it doesn't look like he's missed a beat. Given some unforeseen disaster, it looks like this one's in the bag & he will successfully defend him title after winning here in '07.

Big Mouth Rory was on the leaderboard for a while but ended up shooting 3 over 75 and is now sitting pretty tied for 28th.

But the real big news is my fifth place finish in the Chevy Chase CC Booze Shoot which was good for a hefty bottle of Corzo tequila anejo - good stuff.

Choi hangs on to win Sony Open by 3 shots

K.J. Choi struggled to a one over par 71 yet managed to fend off the field for a wire to wire win in Honolulu yesterday. His 64-65-66 scores during the 1st 3 days of play gave him the cushion he need to maintain hold off a late charge by South African big mouth Rory Sabbatini who took sole 2nd with an 11 under. Tattoo Golf Fun fact - K.J. was the first Sony Open champion in 41 years to card a final round over par.

Chopra Hangs on to win at Kapalua

Daniel Chopra earned another trip to Hawaii next year with his win yesterday in the winners-only Mercedes-Benz Championship but more importantly, he's earned a ticket to Augusta. "I get to go to Augusta, my lifelong dream" he said after beating Steve Stricker on the fourth playoff hole.

He should have had it wrapped up much sooner than that but a series of really bad breaks kept Stricker alive but Chopra's bad luck streak finally ended on the 4th playoff hole. He had a chance to avoid a playoff entirely with a 12 footer for birdie on the 72nd hole but the ball stopped an inch from the cup. Back to the 18th where it came down to a 7 foot putt to win but again he was denied as the putt just missed on the right side.

He had a 25 footer to win on the 2nd playoff hole but again was denied as the ball literally hung over the cup but wouldn't drop - no Tiger-like drama for Daniel. He was so confident that putt was dropping that he raised his club in celebration only to crumble to the green in dispair as it defied gravity.

He's got guts though & kept battling to finally win the trophy, the car & the $1.1 million check - what a way to start the year!

Kapalua - day 1

The longest season in all professional sports just kicked off yesterday with the 1st round at the PGA TOUR's Mercedes-Benz Championship in Kapalua Hawaii. Nick Watney is leading the pack after shooting a 5-under (1 bogey)68 yesterday on the long & treacherous Plantation course. The weather played it's usual havoc and if you've ever had the chance to play this course (I did in '06) the weather is the toughest hazard on that course!

The 18th is a monster 676 downhill par 5 but if the wind is right & the ball's hit flush, you can get a 350 yard drive (that includes a lot of roll for me). I actually got close to the green in 3, chipped on to within 6 feet of the cup then 1 putted for par. I know I didn't get many pars that day & that could very well have been my only one for the day!

It's a tough course when the weathers acting up as it was yesterday resulting in only 10 sub-par rounds. Daniel Chopra trails Watney by 1 while US Open champ Angel Cabrerra, Aaron Baddeley & Jonathan Byrd trail by 2 with 3 under rounds.

Tiger Recap

This was taken from Tiger Woods' official site - www.tigerwoods.com. It's always interesting to hear what # 1 golfer in the world has to say.

Tiger's Tales From the Tour: December 2007

By Tiger Woods

I have so much to be thankful for in 2007. Obviously, my wife and new daughter top the list. I had always heard that fatherhood changes your life and perspective, but until you experience it, there's no way to really understand how much. Every day, Sam does something new that brings a smile to my face. I appreciate the little things, like having her watch me hit balls on the back of the driving range or watch sports with me on TV. She's a wonderful, curious little girl, and Elin and I cherish every moment together.

Golf-wise, I've always said if you win a major, it's a great year. Everything else is gravy. Winning the PGA Championship was the highlight, but I played consistently most of the season and am very pleased with my progress. It was also satisfying to win two World Golf Championship events, and of course, the inaugural FedExCup.

The only disappointments were coming up short at the Masters and U.S. Open. I put myself in position both times, but just couldn't get the job done. I'll think about that during the next few weeks and hopefully come back even stronger in 2008.

It was nice to end the year with a W in the Target World Challenge. Coming off a 10-week break, I wasn't sure how sharp I would be, but I putted great and hit big shots when I needed them. I also accomplished it playing the new Nike ONE Platinum ball. More importantly, we were able to raise a lot of money for the Tiger Woods Foundation, which will enable us to help more kids. My thanks to the players, sponsors, staff, volunteers and of course the fans for making the tournament such a big success.

The Tiger Woods Leaning Center in Anaheim, Ca. has exceeded all expectations, and we are making great progress in our Washington, D.C. efforts. We also have some exciting programs I plan to launch in January 08. More on that later.

I would like to thank my good friend Hank Haney for all his help and support this year. Henry dealt with some family issues and I know it wasn't easy. He didn't attend as many events as he usually does, and rightfully so. But he was there when I needed him. All the countless hours we have put in together are paying off. I have a better understanding of my golf swing than ever before and know how to fix most of my faults. When I don't, Henry will continue to be my extra set of eyes.

I will start the 2008 season next month by defending my title at the Buick Invitational. I want to spend as much time as I can during the holidays with family and friends. Although I've never been much of Christmas guy, things are different now that we have Sam. As a kid, my parents used to give me a left shoe for Christmas and a right shoe for my birthday (Dec. 30). Real funny. I'm not a great shopper, but look forward to picking out a few presents for her.

That's all for now. Elin, Sam and I send our best wishes for the holiday season. Have a safe and healthy New Year.
